This just blows my mind because I responded to a written piece attributed to Andy Rooney on prayer that promotes prayer at public events, etc. Now I'm finding, from this link, that he never wrote it! I'm speechless! Now, seeing this video, I am stunned that I was duped by the phoney essay. Wow, just wow.

Wow, I had him pegged wrongly, too... maybe for the same reason. Shoot, I didn't like him much, but now have new respect for him. Otoh, too bad he didn't publicly attack religion. (Or did he?)

Here's another Andy Rooney quote:

“There was some recognition in 1989 of the fact that many of the ills which kill us are self-induced. Too much alcohol. Too much food, drugs, HOMOSEXUAL UNIONS, cigarettes. They’re all known to lead quite often to premature death.” (emphasis mine)

I always just figured he was an atheist… how could he had be right about so many things yet had been wrong on religion? Andy is a true American hero. He fought the Nazis in WW2. His career in journalism has set the standard the very few will ever reach. He will be missed.

I always liked his little "Did ya ever" segments on 60 Minutes. He was an insightful individual and I must admit I did not know of his atheism until now.

Cheers to a good long life Mr. Rooney!

I'll be flippant for a second and point out that Andy Rooney's eyebrows are proof there's no god.  Goodbye, Andy, and thanks for being honest and vocal about your nonbelief during your sunset.  Cheers, brother.
