I was scanning friends' Facebook updates when I saw one that caught my eye. Basically, that God never fails to provide because she just received two job offers on one day!

Really?  Except for all those people praying for jobs, or food, or clean water, or for their children not to die.  Just use your brain for two seconds.  Ugh.

You might want to ask your friend about god meeting the needs of those poor Xtians in west Texas who have been fervently praying for a drop of rainwater for the past year and a half.

The whole "God's in his Heaven - All's right with the world!" thing always strikes me as some of the most vile self-centeredness around.  Hey, everything is going great for me right now, so I'm going to ignore all of the suffering in the world and declare that an all powerful, benevolent being is working to satisfy my every whim.

Oh look.  God made my favorite football team win the big game.  Isn't that special?  Wait, what?  Starving children in the world?  I've never noticed any.

I think that's what bothers me so much about it, is the astounding self-centeredness.  Also, the implication that I am more righteous because things are going right for me.  Obviously, if things aren't going right for you, you are not righteous.  I seriously considered responding, but I'm terrified of confrontation; so I didn't.  Though I feel like I should have.
