Did you know that Atheists are trapped in a prison of reason?

So I came across this article… don’t remember if it was a link through here or google, but I read some of the posts linked in that article by Jennifer Fulwiler, the former Atheist now Catholic Convert…and in one of her articles (Reasoning with Atheists: http://www.ncregister.com/blog/reasoning-with-atheists/) she said the following:

“-I’d go so far as to say that reasoning with them (Atheists) is a waste of time.

-Myers and atheists like him are trapped in a prison of reason

-Reason breeds insanity

-people simply cannot reason their way into faith”

It was just humorous and sad.  How does this make any theist sound intelligent? I’m not saying they are stupid or incapable of intelligence… but saying you can’t use logic and reason to define who you are and how you live your life is ludicrous.  Silly Theists.  She also wrote another blog listing 5 topics that make sense to Atheists about Catholicism… That’s another knee slapper.

Just thought I would share the insanity.

Ah yes, so much better to be trapped in a prison of faith.

It's very true, people cannot reason their way into faith, any more than I can swim my way into mountain climbing. And reasoning with atheists IS a waste of time, if you're unable to use reason. And reason, when lost, can breed insanity. It sounds to me like Jennifer got tired of thinking for herself. It can be hard sometimes, and the logical conclusions one comes to after examining the world we live in can sometimes be uncomfortable, scary or depressing. It's so much easier to let someone else do all your thinking for you!

I wallow in my "prison of reason."  I luxuriate in it.  I celebrate it.  I'm proud of it!

<Apologies: the original was full of typos>

She is completely deluded - and has a bunch of imaginary 'reasonable atheist friends' apparently who find her arguments convincing.  As my Dad says (and he's a devout Catholic): it's the lies which are really disgusting in the RCC - they are such a bunch of liars!

The whole idea of faith is that you believe when reason tells you not to. Some people need to be able to lean on some "granddaddy in the sky" to help them cope with life's trials and tribulations; others, like me (and I imagine most others here), find that they just cannot set reason aside. It is simply impossible.

Trying to use reason to explain or defend faith is an exercise in futility.

It's a little like Wonko the Sane putting the entire world into an asylum, isn't it?

lol so true, I would much rather be in this "prison" where things make sense. Which is funny I thought she used the term cuz isn’t church a prison?  You have to listen and obey the warden, can’t speak your mind, no one lets you leave, very shitty food (Styrofoam crackers and Grape Juice anyone?) and you are doomed to return every week, several times for some.

"I'd rather be 'trapped' in this prison which is the size of the universe, than be free in her religion which is the size of a book."

I love it! XD

@Kris... Great comment!

Seems like a sane thing for a catholic apologist to do, to give up on rationality, reason and logic altogether.

Intellectual consistency of Catholicism? Start irrationally, finish irrationally. Assume woo, conclude more woo. Sounds consistent enough to me.
