Anyone ever heard of this before? I came across it in an episode of Penn & Teller, Bullshit. Its means simply to educate yourself and there are a lot of resources out there to help with it. Pretty interesting.

Here's a few interesting links if anyone is interested in learning more. There are some MIT courses available online for free, as well as Berkley courses and lectures you can download, good info.

I think I've always been an autodidact to some degree. I imagine many of us are. :-)

I was determined to be an autodidact and teach myself everything for a career, until I learned that most occupations require paper degrees. Then I started college.

Society today isn't suited for self teachers, as most things require degrees of some sort. Studies have shown that college isn't very effective for general knowledge. I think that most of the skills learned in college or tradeschool could easily be self taught. Most people who go to college tend to forget most of the information after the graduate, Hell, most tend to forget during a short brake from college.

That's my problem with university, Atypical.

You don’t have to be smart or learn much of anything to get a degree; you just have to have the money.
