Countdown to Zero: Engaging, Illuminating, Powerful, Interesting, and Enlightening

Countdown to Zero, a documentary about the history of nuclear weapons, lays out the most non-sensationalized, perfectly rational argument for complete nuclear disarmament I have ever seen presented on screen or off. Many of the world’s nuclear experts show that the idea of safety behind a nuke is nothing more than a myth that requires faith.

President Kennedy, in his 1961 address before the United Nations said, “Today, every inhabitant of this planet must contemplate the day when… Continue

I have a question for those of you who choose to call yourselves agnostics. Do you really believe that it is possible that the Flying Spaghetti Monster really exists? The standard answer I get when I pose this questions is: anything is possible. But if impossibilities did not exist then half the proofs in mathematics are wrong. Now, if you grant that the FSM is (in all likelihood) impossible, why is it any different for any other god? It is difficult for me to fathom how anyone can hear the… Continue

What Wooden Cross?

Let’s look at the so-called crucifixtion of Jesus Christ. One of the most devastating things the romans would do whenever they conquered…

How can I assert my lack of belief when the person with whom I'm talking cannot comprehend what I'm saying? His lack of understanding or misunderstanding creates a wall I can't break. How can I possibly defend my beliefs (or lack thereof) when my methodology of cogitation isn't understood by the other party? It leaves me with my hands tied and leaves him feeling self-righteous; because he can't understand what I'm saying, he feels he must be right. Since when does one lose credibility for… Continue

Well seeing that the mods here can censor video without reason.
Seeing that when it happens they feel no explanation is necessary.
Seeing that when requesting information no one feels a need to respond back.
Sorry I will not support a site that will not at least communicate with it's members.
I will just go away and not bother you any more.

"Can we beat the strawman?" - from Atheist Climber blog

So often, when in debate we can encounter an immovable opponent, who, no matter what you say or write, is convinced that their position is right. There is nothing more frustrating than taking the opponent's side into consideration, but getting none of the same in return. This can be due to several different circumstances, for instance: the opponent may not… Continue

"God Appears In Fear" NSFW

It’s too late

To change your mind

The decision is already gone…

It’s dark all day long

Night comes and stays on…

Forever in the greatest heat wave

People burning under the gold love parade…

Waves of lava in faces unsaved

Growing back yet never replaced yeah…

So called love ones unloved

Sent down to never be hugged

Creator’s middle finger laughing heard…

Yeah it made us in its image disturbed

Unable to tell truth and show… Continue

Adam and Eve - Like babies off a cliff.

I wish I could remember where I found this lovely analogy;

This story is like setting your two little babies near the edge of a cliff, telling them “Don’t crawl off or you’ll die”, and then leaving them alone. After saying this you just watch, silent and out of sight, while one of your older and more knowledgeable children goads them into crawling off the edge of the cliff one at a time and falling to their deaths.

If people are not worried about Muslims, they should be!!

After seeing this video, it just further angered me and just made me dislike Muslims even more. I did not know anything about the practice of taqiyya. I always figured those fuckers were lying, always known that they are trying to impose sharia law on the entire world, because the Quran demands… Continue

Unsettling Ambiguities, Amazing Possibilities

Recently, while taking a drive down a divided highway north of Mexico City, I had a very close call. A driver traveling in the opposite direction lost control of his vehicle, perhaps losing a wheel and came across the median. There was no time to react. To avoid the imminent head-on collision, the driver swerved back into the deep median at the very last second, rolling his vehicle and losing his life. The scene was gruesome, disturbing and sobering.

Upon sharing this story with a… Continue

Confession-box sauna.

This the best use for a confession box in my opinion.

Some Catholics may well sweat in the confessional as they admit to things they shouldn't have done. But Vienna's archdiocese has ruled that the box-like structure cannot be turned into a sauna.

Bidding on a confessional described on eBay as ideal for conversion into a one-person sauna, a small bar or a children's playhouse ended when the archdiocese stepped in.

Archdiocese spokesman Erich…

Injuries on Croagh Patrick.

If the god that these people believed in did exist,I would think he/she/it would make sure they weren't hurt while on his/her/its "holy" mountain.

RESCUE services were forced to carry an injured pilgrim from near the peak of Croagh Patrick to the base because bad weather conditions had prevented a helicopter from landing.

And in another shocking incident, a 10-year-old boy who was ascending the mountain was knocked over by a woman who fell on…

The CEO - Chief Exorcism Officer

This just in - Gabriele Amorth is the head of the Vatican's exorcism office (link).

In other news.... the Vatican has an exorcism office.

Holy S, who knew? I used to watch a fair amount of the ghost hunting shows and they would always toss in the disclaimer that the church doesn't officially acknowledge exorcisms. I had always assumed that even they knew… Continue

Bible verse sparks debate.

Hey everyone, I have yet to stir another facebook debate/discussion with my status. This one started with me simply sharing a bible verse. I could really use and feedback you may have on how to continue to respond to my "friend" Ambri.Thanks.

Jesus Torture Porn

I came across a new expression recently, 'Torture Porn'. The reference in the film 'The Passion of Christ' is discussed here.

We tell children how christ was beaten, flogged and nailed to a cross to forgive them for their sins. How sick is that? They see pictures of an alomst naked man, pierced by nails and dying and people think that's ok? If I showed my kids pictures of… Continue

How does god communicate with you?

How can anyone believe in the literal interpretation of Adam and Eve unless they are prepared to throw science and reason out of the window? It's mad enough that people think they have a relationship with god, the creator. Come on do you really think that the guy that made all this would want to talk to you or consider your pathetic prayers? Such arrogance.

This is my comment to the evangeilcal post on …

God and faith without parents.

If someone was brought up in a controlled environment where information was filtered and they were given zero information about god, what would their belief/value system become?

Does god have a way of communicating with people or has he devolved the spiritual continuence on the parents of the child to bring said child up in said faith?

I wonder how many children who are brought up in faith A, sudenly denounce it and adopt faith B? The lack of wholescale movement to the 'one… Continue

More Billions from an Atheist

I wrote about the charity of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates back in January. Last week another rich (assumed) atheist threw his name into the hat as someone who will donate the bulk of his money to charity. Paul Allen released a statement noting that the bulk of his money will go to philanthropic efforts. His 13.5 Billion Dolllar fortune will… Continue
