Your Religious Status
Atheist, Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic
About Me:
I would describe myself as the thinking man's atheist; however, it seems to me that the majority of atheists are already very intellectual, so that seems almost bland.
I'm still easing into my atheism and, admittedly, am still mostly in the closet about this to my family. I am, however, rather vocal about my beliefs (or lack thereof) at my school.
Why are you here?
I've been wanting to start a blog for some time, and this seems like a good place to start. I've been having discussions with my college's local Christian Apologetics club, which are always very fun and seem to be just begging to be written down.
I'm also here to share thoughts and debate points with fellow atheists and freethinkers, and for the support that comes with interacting with like-minded peoples.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
While I had always tried to be knowledgeable about my religion (and still do), I was never all that religious to begin with (at least not compared to those around me).
There was a brief time when I had half-heartedly considered joining the the priesthood; however, I realize now the only thing I really ever wanted from it was the power and influence that went with the collar.

I'm a member of the website DeviantArt.com. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically a site where people can post anything ranging from photographs, to drawings, to written works, even flash programs.

The site recently added the ability to create a group, where artists with similar interests can more easily share their work.
One of the more entrepreneurial atheists on the site decided to start a group titled…

Joe Jervis over at Joe. My. God. tipped me off to a small story about Exodus International president Alan Chambers making a dubious Facebook posting.

It was about a lesbian couple who, after 22 years together, have now apparently decided to "accept Jesus"…

So, last weekend, I went to this giant conference in Anaheim, CA called RE Congress (http://www.recongress.org) It for Catholic Religious Educators. As I've said before, I still spend a good part of my time helping my mom out in the church, and this including going to conferences such as these.
To tell the truth, I had a great time. Of course, it was only a five day trip, with 1.5 days spent at the conference, 1.5 days spent sight seeing in and around…

Hey Jake. I noticed that you have a blog up that doesn't quite appear to be finished? But you aren't on TA working on it? Am I missing something or is it ready to go?
