Being that this is an atheist website -  I figure that means we're a bunch of free-thinking individuals who probably believe strongly in the Constitution.  If you are interested in lending your voice…Continue

Birthday Party for Jesus

I don't know how this particular invite wound up on my FB page, but it did.  (great rolling of the eyes)  I clicked 'not attending', scrolled through some of the comments, and decided the whole thing…Continue

Johnny's post about Hobby Lobby gave me the idea to start this post.  I have, for quite some time now, felt that there are two ways to vote - with your ballot, and with your dollar - and I think that…Continue

Now that I'm an atheist, I need some new vocabulary.  "Oh my God!", "Good Lord!", Jesus Christ!", and "God damn it" all have to go.  What can I replace these God-isms with except for Atheism-isms -…Continue

Your Religious Status
About Me:
Single mom. College student. Secular humanist. Agnostic atheist. You'll have to excuse me, I need to rinse off the glue now - so many labels I've just placed on myself, I've begun to feel quite sticky.
Why are you here?
It would be nice to have conversations wherein I don't have to hear "Well bless your heart." or "Have a blessed day." or "What church do you go to?" and the like.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I became disgusted with the way self-professed christians behaved and decided I wanted nothing to do with them.

Seemingly All Alone and On My Own (or A Heartfelt Lament)

Posted on December 4, 2010 at 11:12am 17 Comments

I am surrounded by family, but feel like I'm all alone anyway. With the exception of my dad and myself, none of the rest of my family votes. They are not politically active at all. They support no causes, they do not stand up for their rights. I have put a link on my Facebook page with petitions for supporting the repeal of both DADT and DOMA and supporting the American Traveler Dignity Act, with messages on both that say "Please sign the petition and stand up for yourself and everyone else!"… Continue

!!! If Facebook gets it's way on this, does that mean we can only describe the front of our heads - you know, the part with the eyes and the nose and the mouth on it? lol What a stupid world we live in.

Losing my Faith in Humanity (or: A Sanity-Preserving Rant)

This TSA bullshit is just the latest in a long line of attacks on our civil liberties, but it's really pissing me off. I wonder what it will take to finally push a thorough backlash against all of our stupid policies (formal and informal)? Seatbelt laws, helmet laws, mandatory insurance, gay military service bans, gay marriage bans, gay adoption bans, anti-prostitution laws, anti-gambling laws, the war on crime, the war on drugs, the war on terror, unfounded and illegal undeclared wars, corrupt… Continue

Sovereign Self

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 6:30pm 2 Comments

I, being of sound mind and body, do declare sovereignty over myself. I alone have the right to decide what I put into my mind and what I put into my body. I alone have the right to decide what I expose my mind and body to.

Wearing a seatbelt in a car is a good safety measure and wearing a helmet on a motorcycle is a life saving measure, but I should not be told that I have to do it. If I don't use seatbelts or helmets, than it will be my cold, dead body lying on the ground,…
