About Me:
Former Christian who was deep into fundamentalist belief. But time after time it just didn't add up: prayers made in earnest went unanswered, unfairness was rampant among the faithful, reading the Bible always left me empty in spite of praying for God to instill understanding. The sincere prayer of believers didn't ever actually get answered any more than randomness would dictate. Of course I remembered the few successes but no prayer that required miraculous intervention worked.

Christians died in church bus accidents at the same rate as any other organization's bus accidents.

Prayer never healed anyone where medical science wasn't helping.

I wasn't bitter, I was disappointed, and began to think that our understanding of Christianity was woefully inadequate.

My extraction from religion started after getting heavily into a new hobby. One unintended consequence was changing friends; falling away from the church and not hanging around only Christians.

But I still held on to the possibility of its truth and even my belief in the probability of supernatural creation.

Then a friend gave me "Evolution 101," a podcast that explained the incredible evidence for evolution. Wow! When I went back to my "Answers in Genesis" pubs it was clearly full of vacuous arguments. But the icing on my cake of enlightenment was this gem, regarding how to debate with an evolutionists: "above all else, don't let them take away your foundation, the Bible."

Now it was clear. This obviously had nothing to do with science or reason or evidence, it was simply a ploy to keep the ignorant in their faith.

How sad that I had been bamboozled for so long.

No more. Now I'm on a mission to support a rational view of the world around us where an evidence-based worldview is held in the highest esteem.

If evidence points to god, I'm all over it. But ALL the evidence we've genuinely gathered points only to natural causes. No more "god glasses" for me!
