I found this while searching projects on the Hand On Greenville website. It is a volunteer project for Concerned Citizens for Animals which runs a no-kill shelter in Simpsonville. If anyone is interested in volunteering, let me know! I'd love to get a group together and volunteer one of these weekends. The max number of participants is 10.

"Concerned Citizens for Animals runs a no-kill shelter for animals. come and make a nicer home for the cats and dogs who reside here. Volunteers spend time walking and playing with the animals and cleaning their living areas.

Volunteers will be doing strenuous activity. So please be prepared.

All participants must be 16 or older."

I'm looking at the following weekends, depending on how many people want to attend:

July 23 (there is already 4 people signed up for this date)

Aug 27 (3 signed up here)

Sep 17 (only 2 signed up so far)

Reading more about signing up to volunteer, it seems you have to attend a one hour orientation that is only available on Thursdays from noon-1. This may be a problem for some...I'm going to have to work some things out in order to attend a meeting. Good thing it's one time only!
Tuesdays & Thursdays*
I thought about you when I saw this! :) ..but I don't know if they do orientations on any other days. It would be nice though. In order for me to attend at that time on those days, I'll have to drive 30 minutes to drop my daughter @ my grandmother's & then another 30 minutes to get to the place (plus driving back to pick her up). It's a lot of running around for a 1-hour orientation.
You know what..I just thought of something. . . We could volunteer directly with the Concerned Citizens for Animals instead of HOG...We'd have to contact them to see if they allow any to volunteer.

LOL..yep..you can... and a lot more opportunities too!
