Lobbying - it is SO easy!

Lobbying - it is SO easy!

Lobbying is simply a fancy word for participation. When most people think about "lobbying the government," or any entity such as the United Nations, most people who are unaware of their own rights would think that you have to already be in a position of power or influence to have your voice heard.

This is actually very far from the truth.

The truth of the matter is that elected officials WANT to hear from the people they serve. They want to know what the people want, but when no one speaks up, they always act in a way that serves their own interests. I suppose that is human nature is it not?

I am starting this group because there are a number of world issues that have tremendous opportunity for people like you and me to lobby for or against. It doesn't seem fitting to discuss lobbying on the main forum, so this is a separate place to do so.

Some topics we will discuss in this group are:

  • Any current or upcoming events that we can all get involved in.
  • Contact information for the entities or organizations, governments, or specific websites that we may contact to voice our opinion, and the multiple ways that we might consider making our voice heard.
  • Educational material that is accessible and concise that can be considered if you are not sure if you want to lobby, but that you can simply learn more about the subject.
  • This is an opportunity for Think Atheist members to showcase current outreach campaigns, or lobbying efforts that they are personally working towards.
  • A place to share success stories, or stories of setbacks as they arise.
  • I hope that this group can also serve as a place for people to ask lobbying specific questions to other people as there is much knowledge to go around, and we learn from our successes and our failures.

There is no particular topic that is restricted here. As long as it is for a good cause.

So, let's change the world one signature, phone call letter, picket sign, or meeting at a time, shall we? :-)

It's combat, arch, without the bloodshed of war.

I saw it, arch. It's a crappy thing to do.

Both parties have attached hateful stuff to necessary legislation but the religious fanatics who today own the Republican Party want a theocracy and have more stuff they want to put into law.
