Strong parallels, at best minor coincidences shared by many hero stories.  That the Jesus story was embellished?  Yeah, sure.  But it is certianly unique in many regards.

My repsonse to Dr. Jesus that Mostafa has not included: "

Dr Jesus

I’m not arguing that Jesus was or was not a real person, nor am I saying he didn’t share attributes with other deities- he did, and I even point that out when it is true.

However, the common argument that Jesus is a complete rip off of Mithras, Horus and Dionysus is just not true. The similarities are limited.

I do fall in to the camp that a physical Jesus matching the tales of the Bible- even the non miraculous ones- is unlikely (not impossible, just unlikely based on what we know but also unnecessary), however as I say bringing these names into the debate and basically making up non existent links damages any credible debate there is to be had."

Sharing *some* attributes is not the same as having numerous similarities.  You could find numerous similarities between Caesar and Alexander, that doesn't mean Caesar is a rip off of Alexander.

@KK, agreed. The piece would have been more compelling (I think) had it just presented the individual facts as they are and had not attempted to string them together. Also they I think they should have mentioned that the city of Bethlehem did not exist at the time Jesus is purported to have existed.

I also have to somewhat concur with  Mostafa's conclusion. The piece is provocative. Although the logic tying the individual facts together may be unsubstantiated it may truly be enough to not so much "burst a bubble," but perhaps enough to motivate the individual to research for themselves (and begin thinking) the true origins of Christianity, and hopefully, ultimately the idea and concept of god.

Agreed or disagreed, I'm glad the below discussion was had and I'm glad I posted the video.
