Ha ha yeah! Just like that.

This woman is my heroine!  She dared to imply that God has nothing to do with all the terrible natural disasters that wreak such havoc and loss of life.  In fact, these catastrophes clearly demonstrate that there IS no God; at least not one who is both omnipotent and omnibenevolent.

So, Xians, just what was God's point in sending the tornado?  What did He have aginst the children who died in the Plaza Towers School?  Why haven't any Christians asked God why He chose to crush to death the mother who futilely covered her baby's body to protect it from the storm?

God must have had SOME point in mind.  After all, according to the hate-filled loons at Westboro Baptist, and some Tea Party Republicans in Congress, God sent the tornado to express His anger over Obama praising Jason Collins for coming out as gay, and for not standing up for the saintly Tim Tebow.  It does beg a pair of questions, though: why didn't He send the tornado to the White House?  And was Tebow cut because he didn't pray hard enough to save his job?

Do you really want God to be constantly re-jiggering the laws of the universe to make sure that there are never any environmental consequences to sentients?  We Christians believe these things are sad, or tragic, but we're not expecting God to be directing the weather so that no rain ever falls in anyone's life.  That would be the sort of silly version of God that some atheist would make up!

Pretty sure there are lots of deists that believe in "re-jiggering". They just call it miracles.

If there's going to be any re-jiggering, why can't it be grass that grows to a nice, even 5 cm or so and just stops?

I think the constant need to mow lawns is a failure of both God and Science.

@Holo:

Ha!  That's definitely an article/headline worthy of The Onion.

This is like that, 'No atheist's in a foxhole' thing, pure crap.
I'm fairly ignorant of most religions. I tried to get through the bible once, but after a while I said to myself, "Hey, why do I need to know this stuff? I don't believe any of it."
It's the believer's responsibility to know their written excuses, they're the one's who live by them, not me. It's not their job to know how and why I do what I do; I'm not going to concern myself with their reasoning either.
However, it always seemed to make sense to me that if God created the Universe, created all life, and counts every hair on your head; if he created every single thing on this planet and beyond, everything in our minds and hearts, then he must also be responsible for everything that happens.
So if he whipped the tornado up to begin with, why would you thank him for not killing you with it?
"Hey, thanks for not beating me to death Dad! I really appreciate your mercy!"
