People are so damn stupid, aren't they
I so want to post this to Facebook but I am afraid, not of my friends judging me in a cruel way, but of the few friends that I have that are Christians taking this message in the EXACT opposite way it was intended. One of them I am almost certain will think it is meant as a Christian Values message. Imagine that....long sigh
It IS a values message:
Dear Christian: Your bullshit has negative net value.
I shared this on facebook so my wife could watch it. She's devout xian.
I asked her if she viewed it all any differently and she just simply said "no".
Sad.
Seeing 'This World' through the atheist lense would be much better. I would rather that theist image/message be presented as juxaposed to the atheist. I might suggest the following as an example:
Set the scene, family and friends in a circle around the parents with child, on a bright sunny noll of grass.
Each person takes turns with the child sitting infront of the parents, with the child in their arms, they speek softly mentioning the joys and trials of being, the wonders that are in the world, and some of the darkness that sometimes intrudes. That life can be an adventure, a challedge, a deep joy, with tragedy along the way, but worth the trip....
Loved it, but wish they had not have used the augustine doctrine. Not even the Catholic church accepts it. It would be better if it said something about how the most benign sin ever gets you sent to hell. Few people believe people go to hell because of the sins of adam rather than their own.
[I'll stipulate this, you know far more about Xianity as practiced today than I do.]
But it does seem like Xians claim that we are imperfect and sinners as a result of adam's sin; we've inherited not the liability, but the tendency. In other words, we're still stuck with it because doG wanted us to be stuck with it.
I suppose some Xian could focus on the Augustinian doctrine, cry "strawman" and be correct in doing so. But he can't legitimately use that as an excuse to ignore the rest.
LOL ! *shakeshead* I cannot see for the life of me how any thinking person can possibly not question the validity of ancient beliefs in a modern world, nor can I see how anyone cannot see these were ancient beliefs before such things as empirical evidence, scientific discovery and for a world that didn't know any better , when will humans grow up..... Have they also not yet heard the world is not flat?
