I've never liked this idea of "god is love", which is supposed to imply that the christian god gives christians some special level of compassion. This is weird considering what a jealous, conceited, and wrathful god the christian god is. Throughout the time since the inception of the christian religion, a large number of followers of the christian god have been just as hateful and jealous as he is. The anti-intelligence mobs that drove the dark ages, the atrocities of the crusades, the inquisition, and the bible betlers out on street corners hold up signs saying "God Hates Fags"... These all show how sometimes god is not love. If a god is sometimes not love, then the statement "god is love" just cannot apply to that god.

I've never really had someone ask me where atheism came from. Weird. It would seem obvious. I like your response. Very rational and well spoken.
