Yeah...God DOES send people to hell. He is supposedly omnipotent, and knows our pasts, presents, and futures like we know the back of our hands. He KNOWS the choices we are going to make, and he knows where we're going when we make those choices. Instead of intervening, he allows it to happen. Through inaction, he is condemning people to eternal torment. Not the kind of God I'd worship, even if he did exist.

I also agree.  I have had that same conversation with Christians over and over again.  I love it when they add, "It's only because I care."  Really?  

I get confused sometimes when I can almost see the point at which I allow myself to begin to be brainwashed into taking the first step toward believing... just to shut them up.  They say I am afraid, and they are right.  It is very scary to me that they use these tactics to push people into believing something that is nonsensical, and that someone as strongly atheist as I am can begin to see the breaking point.

I never try to de-convert them, but they think nothing of thinking I should give up things I know to be true and replace them with fantasies.

Because their personal perspective of reality and fantasy are the exact opposites of yours. They think that by telling you that what you believe is wrong in every sense and by mercilessly berating you for it that they're "doing the Lord's work" and "curing" you. It's all just a pissing contest, a reason for them to flaunt their egos.
