Theology or mythology in practice?

What exactly is the difference between theology and mythology? Time? Credulity?

The non-difference between theology and mythology was the initial "crystallization" of my atheism in my early teens. To this day I refer to Christianity as "Christian mythology" because mythology is just "the study of a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation."
