Did the people that watched this movie not understand the whole thing about the roots of the trees acting as brain synapses? In the movie it wasn't just some fairy tale, there was actual biological reasons to view the plant life as more than just plants.

Well... OK, Ken... but really, by most accounts there are only 7 basic plot types: "The Quest", "Voyage and Return", "Rebirth", "Comedy", "Tragedy", "Overcoming the Monster", and "Rags to Riches". A fair discussion can be found here.

Lifting a little something from here and a little something from there is how the vast bulk of art, of all types, is created. There is very little raw invention anywhere, and usually, when it does come around, most people reject it as too weird and unfamiliar. Think of the Segway.

What disappoints me is when the same studio remakes its own dated, shoddy, tripe 30 years later with new haircuts and hip lingo. Disney is FAMOUS for this. (Freaky Friday, et al)
