I like the video, but don't understand how mythicism is an alternative to atheism. Mythicism as described is atheistic. Atheists don't deny that mythological figures exist. Seems perfectly reasonable for someone to be an atheist who accepts the mythicist position. But absurd for a theist to do so because that would mean rejecting the theist claim that these stories are true.

To clarify, I don't mean to say that atheists believe mythological figures exist in the sense that we believe they are real and true, just that the stories exist. I accept the concept of Darth Vader, but don't believe he is real. Same for Jesus, Satan and Zues.

I'm really not sure what this is suppose to stand for.  Mythicism seems to have any thing to it. The links aren't really giving me any insight and google is coming up with definations such as this
