This was recently aired on the BBC. Not a totally balanced view of Mormonism and Mitt Romney but interesting.

Comment by Mark Lindell on August 2, 2012 at 9:45pm After watching this I learned the following:
There was a anonymous survey given to some members about the temple endowment prior to the changes when the LDS leadership saw the temple attendance down.
Prior to 1990 in the Mormon temple endowment you would swear secrecy or suffer your life to be taken...while making the motion to have your throat cut and you stomach cut.
Before That...
Death Oaths Made by All Mormon Temple Patrons Prior to the 1930's:
ADAM : "We, and each of us, covenant and promise that we will not reveal any of the secrets of this, the first token of the Aaronic priesthood, with its accompanying name, sign or penalty. Should we do so, we agree that our throats be cut from ear to ear and our tongues torn out by their roots."
ADAM: "All bow your heads and say Yes."
TEMPLE PATRONS: "Yes." (All patrons sit down.)
**Even today, Mormon Temple patrons make the oaths of secrecy above, although without the gruesome penalties.
Comment by Nate Lundgren on August 8, 2012 at 1:37am Just as a side note to this documentary, we need to stop theocracies of any kinds. Another "oath" that is made in the temple is that at some future time if the church asks it of you, you must give ALL of your time, wealth, etc, to the church. It is something called the law of consecration. It is basically a totalitarian communistic ideology. This is what the church is really working for, a future socialistic and theocratic organization of government. They believe Jesus will be the king of the world and everyone will be ruled by him/mormon church. You may think I'm making this up but this is what I was taught when I was mormon. Please take it very seriously that Mitt Romney was taught this as well. The "modern" church leaders or members will confirm this if they are being honest with you. (good luck) hahahaha
I hated the fascist and secretive nature of mormonism since I was a child but was not one to rock the boat or challenge authority. It took me until I was 35 to figure out that I had been severely and deeply brainwashed. That theo-psychotic delusion that I was under made my life so miserable as reality started to sink in that I was borderline suicidal until I realized that my life and freedom from the church/doctrines were possible. Of course I still have the baggage to shed as quickly as possible but I feel so free and light-hearted now. I'm thankful for reality and honest people that told the liberating truth so I could enjoy life according to the natural ways it can be enjoyed and enjoy it according to my freethinking brain's terms. :)
