I'm undecided whether Stephen Colbert is being funny or serious in his comments/statements - its surely getting laughs.

Stephen Colbert, as seen on his show, is a character. He's said so himself. He is basically a Poe of right-wing, religious ultra-conservatives. That's why so many people love him.

But what's funny is that Colbert seemed almost afraid to go into much depth on the issue of God. It could also be that he just didn't have enough time, too.

You're kidding, right? He's a satirist. His whole show is his over-the-top impression of Bill O'Reilly. :)

Colbert actually makes a very good summation of most of the creationist arguments you'll see on the intertubes. He's sneaky like that.

It is most unfortunate that his wit is probably completely wasted on those who would benefit from it the most.
