I watched a documentary about the Samaritan on Al Jazeera channel and I was very surprised..

Total population 712 in 2007 > very few.

The Samaritans are a very interesting people. They claim to be one of the original 12 tribes of Israel, but the bible says they are foreigners brought from Iraq by king Saragon II in 722 BC.

 

The Samaritan religion is practically identical to Judaism except for several differences, among them, the "correct" location of the Temple. Judaism claims it should be in Jerusalem while the Samaritans claim it should be near Nablus on mount Grizim.
