I recommend watching Warren's full TED talk. He knew his usual evangelical message would fall on deaf ears, so he went with a universalist message instead. It's a testament to the mind's ability to hold two conflicting ideas simultaneously that someone like Warren can preach John 14:6 at Saddleback and the exact opposite at TED. Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, Robert Schuller and most others who reach their position do the same thing. (There are some hilarious Youtube videos from fundamentalists damning them all to hell, and throwing in all of their followers too for good measure.)
