I guess I am the only one that agrees with him. If it is a private business, I feel that they should have the right to not allow atheist billboards.
We don't go into an italian restaurant and demand that they serve us escargot or shrimp lo mein do we? It's their business. If we don't like it we can go to a chinese food joint or a french restaurant. Pat even said that it is different than the public square...he is talking about private advertising companies.
Dustin: Although restaurants are privately owned, they are still regulated by the government. I'm not in the advertiseing field but my guess is that these companies are required not to be biased or hold restraint from any customer. Pat is a confused old man. One of his examples is you don't see two naked teenagers having sex. I'm sure somebody out there would love to have this on a bill board (porno companys) but they can't cause...... Government. Pat "BUT IT'S A PRIVATE COMPANY!" *sniffle* *sniffle*
I counted 14 christian billboards on my 3hr drive to Minneapolis back in may. 14.
I'm reminded of a saying: Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that doesn't mean it should be given.
I don't necessarily love the billboard campaigns BUT I really don't think you're in the land of cogent arguments when you treat said billboards the same as images of teenagers having sex.

Well...he's right, in a way. Private companies aren't obligated to put a message up. All businesses have a right to deny service for a legitimate reason. If they have a policy against making billboards of a political or religious bias, you could hardly fault them for not wanting to get involved with this mind bending bullshit. It's up to an individual business to decide if they want to be associated with a group or set of ideals, even if the association is only by providing a service in exchange for currency.

This does create an interesting option. Sadly, trying to be both atheist and 'kind', does not cause me to be mean to the river beneath the bridge. Causing 'Pat' to become fish food, while symbolic, does not solve his problem of the 'aging evalgelist'. It must be hell realizing that 'the message' might not be working, he is getting older, athists are at the door, and christ still has not returned!
He's one of the best things atheism has going. Keep it up, Pat!
Unfortunately he and I share the same last name. What's sadder is I have to allude to him to get people to actually realize what my last name is. "No, my name is not 'Robinson' (or 'Roberson' or 'Roberts' - and I annunciate every syllable too!). Remember that minister who ran for President? Pat Robertson? Yeah, THAT last name."
Could you address him as that "arrogant bigot" instead of "Mr. Robertson"? The situation sucks bad enough as is. :(
And, no, I'm not changing my name... (And I dearly hope I'm not actually related to the idiot either).
