I think that this is a fair and valid question. People who believe in god have no evidence to prove his existence other than what has been taught to them their whole lives by their elders and peers. Some people will insist that god exists because they have "felt" his presence in his lives, but this "feeling" does not prove anything other than an optimism based on unsubstantiated and unreliable information, and is rather fleeting.
