I've been hearing mixed feelings about this statement due to the fact that he doesn't lay out a time line for this to get done. I think some people are feeling that this is just the same rhetoric that he ran for president on rather than an actual statement that this shit will get done as soon as possible.

The man has good intentions, which is a step up from the last president, but I have to echo the sentiments of others that I'll believe it when I see it. Still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but not so willing that I'll be holding my breath on this.

When is the Guantanamo prison closing? Obama needs to start throwing a few punches with these words. Cheney and Bush would have crammed it down the throats of anyone that objected. In the case of these prisons and the military ban on openly gay soldiers, this isn't an all terrible thing.
