It's not really religion that's destroying science but the vote power of the religious. Christians in America mobilize to vote in massive numbers and research shows they do this to vote for religious candidates.The key to saving science is in the ability to make politicians believe that being democratic (fair, for protecting the constitution..etc), and smart, and nothing else, will get them voted to power. How to do this is, of course, another question.
