Neil's premise about law is incorrect. It's not about who the best arguer's are. It's about the merits of what is being argued. Does the messenger help, sure, but you can be the best arguer in the country and you can't muster the votes in Congress to bring back slavery. Congress is about $$ and getting re-elected, it has nothing to do with the practice of law. In fact, over the past decade Congress has changed many of its floor rules to get rid of argument time - have you watched CSPAN lately? I wouldn't let any of those people let represent me for a traffic ticket. 

If he wants to effect change in Congress he needs to become a board of director for a bank or Wal-Mart. Sorry Neil, I love you, but stick science and hire a lobbyist.
