Jesus: saviour by majority vote

You know, I saw the original video this went with when I was in my elementary school years.  It is a Christian video, but I had recently read that the Mormon church decried this cartoon as inaccurate.  Perhaps if a mormon runs across this in the future as TA threads show up in google search, they can clear this one up.  I hate to jump to hasty conclusions, with extra caution toward things I oppose.
I had thought because it was regarding black people being cursed, but it is in the book of mormon, so I don't know what they are disputing.

2 Nephi 5:21
21 And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a
sore cursing, because of their iniquity.  For behold, they had
hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto
a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and
delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the
Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.

I should add that while the book of mormon is clearly incorporating uninspired racist assumptions, it isn't explicitly as racist as the singular verse referenced in the movie that I just posted, because another verse statesJacob 3:9
9 Wherefore, a commandment I give unto you, which is the word of
God, that ye revile no more against them because of the darkness
of their skins; neither shall ye revile against them because of
their filthiness; but ye shall remember your own filthiness, and
remember that their filthiness came because of their fathers.

This passage clearly has racist tendencies as well, but gives us a more well rounded approach to how it is possible to be non-racist and still be considered faithful to the Mormon religion,or how most mormons might have the capacity to not be racist even if their text has some texts of racist influence.

I found all of this by checking out the wikipedia article and then cross-referencing the verses with the verses from the sacred texts website, rather than just knowing this though.
