Thanks Nelson, this is a fascinating dissection of the problem.  To me the issue is:  when is Moral Objectivity important?  I can see that it's important when the moral compass has been lost - when known moral standards have disappeared, and so we are forced to work things out from first principles.  It also appears important when people do terrible things.  If they had stuck to what the rest of humanity could have told them, they wouldn't have done those terrible things.

In the video they say that we need to know that our moral decisions have authority.  But as far as I know, they do not say HOW our moral decisions can have authority.
