I agree! public schools should be applicable to ALL of the public, and that means being secular and letting the kids get their religious indoctrination elsewhere. If parents want that indoctrination as part of the schooling experience, private schools should be able to supply this.
Regarding the schools in your area, are you sure they indoctrinate? My sister in law went to an Anglican private high school here in South Australia and she claims aside from including prayer in their assemblies and having their assemblies in a chapel, there was no indoctrination. They even included other religions in their religious education classes to give the students a broad world view... Might be different in Ireland though, of course. Good luck finding a school. Also you might consider some kind of home school if you have the time or resources to do such a thing.
