I live in deepest, darkest, Teabagistan, AKA Wise County, Texas; ahh the sweet irony of what's lost in a name. I am a very visible progressive atheist and I write a lot of commentary that the local paper, The Wise County Messenger seemingly loves to publish for whatever reason; www.wcmessenger.com "Letters to the editor" if you want.

The local Starbucks is, for lack of a better description, a center of insurrection in that a good percentage of the younger workers are non-theistic and even self-described atheists. I am usually there every day for my Earl Gray cuppa' and pumpkin bread. It's truly a refreshing repast as I get to chat with non-believers in a county of the devout whom I love to poke in their extreme right wingnut politics and Baptist devoutness.

i'm in victoria, BC, on vancouver island. atheism is humanity's best hope! it's encouraging to know there are so many of us these days. the strength of religion has been in the gathering of believers, the community. when atheists can do the same we'll have a chance of being heard.

Aye, we're a growing lot and increasingly not reluctant to let it be known. I was at my "watering hole", Starbucks and chatted with a twenties-something, very attractive woman who is also a self-outed atheist, as is her squeeze, an employee at that Starbucks. We had a lively chat for 45-minutes or so and she was as unafraid as I if any of the local bible-pounders overheard our conversation. It's good to see the youngsters who are departing the usual theocratic nonsense even in Texas.

Im from the boston ma area, i was raised catholic but by about the age of 7 i "reached the age of reason" in the words of george carlin, and i like the stance Hitchens takes when he talks about being an anti theist

I'm in Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge/Guelph area of Ontario Canada. The best way I know of to find a local atheist group is meetup.com. It's probably the best way I know for finding interest groups of any kind.
