Comment by Ken Hughes on January 16, 2011 at 6:48am Even in small-town, holy-roller, Tea-stained, Decatur, Texas there are atheists. most of them closeted to be sure, but here nonetheless. This most handy site has allowed us to locate each other, and my latest Think Atheist-assisted non-believer friend and I attended the Denton Atheist Meet-up Saturday get-together yesterday.
Thanks Think Atheist, it's because of you were always expanding our groups of friends. Hang in there Amariah, I'm absolutely certain there are many like-minded people even in bible-thumpers in Atlanta.
Comment by Casey Caldwell on January 19, 2011 at 10:19pm Thanks for the post Ken. When asked my religion as I layed on a stretcher in emergency I said none, then added atheist. I overheard the admissions person mention to a nurse that she thought my response was 'unusual'.
Comment by Ken Hughes on January 24, 2011 at 7:54am Casey, I don't know Blum, but you are not too far from Fort Worth, so try the Fort worth Free Thinkers Meet-Up group; http://www.meetup.com/FWFreethinkers/. I make every meeting i can and they're a great group with whom I manage to meet on occasion as it's not too far from Decatur. Meredith is the organizer and she's great.
Terry, it's only in the minds of such dolts that we're "unusual". I wish the day would come when she was the unusual one for thinking she had an invisible friend watching over her shoulder making sure she behaved herself; Unfortunately, it'll never be in our lifetimes even though our numbers increase in the world and US all the time, doubling in the US since 1990. At least the US has a president who once was an atheist and I'll bet one day he'll revert to a non-believer.

Comment by Beverly Blake on March 29, 2011 at 3:02am I'm 65, but I don't think I look it. I've had some major medical over the last two years, but I still feel 18 ;p
I'd love to meet someone in Las Vegas or Henderson who has a car if there are meetings or other things to attend.
Las Vegas is either Mormon or not working, so atheism isn't something to espouse loudly here. Most of my atheist friends are on facebook, outside my children and grandchildren. Hi!
