I don't know about you guys but I'm always a little bit leary of people that beleive in gods..especially when they are looking for them to solve their problems...Rick Perry.

@Tex...Rick Perry said that????? What a major hypocrit! No surprise, though.

After watching this segment on 'The Daily Show' I asked myself how congress could have made 'In God We Trust' our national motto to begin with. I always figured the Supreme courts would smack it down.

Turns out, the supreme court considers that phrase 'ceremonial deism.' which basically means that its been repeated so many times that its become purely cerimonious, and has no influence over legislature.

I think Stewart took the right approach in addressing it, though. He mentioned the fact that this motto is fairly recent (1950's), but played up the fact that congress was really just jerking off and wasting everybody's time.

@ Trish E.  I'm sorry Trish my post was misleading. I was not quoting Perry but making a stab at him for his Texas Prayer Meeting, where he was asking his God to lend a hand at fixing the governments problems. I don't think God as replied yet however, we'll see how that works out for him.
