Anti Samaritanism might have been en vogue and still is, but Jesus might have been one himself as he did implicitly admit or at least in John 8:49 didn't bother to deny the accusation by bunch of racist Jews.

@James I'm not surprised they would interpret it that way.

@Albert The parable is only mentioned in Luke, so no wonder that in John's account Jesus was the Samaritan.
