My grandfather and her were close friends. She and her son actually stayed the night at my grandparents house once on a trip to new orleans. I was too little to have any meaningful conversations with her, I was only about 5 years old at the time, but my grandfather thought the world of her and her efforts.

No one had more spunk or more bile. Her demeanor was very, very caustic. My mother used to take us to many of her appearances in the 512. She talked to my high school English class. This woman carried a heavy burden for us all. I would have opened a vein if I had to take a road trip with her though.

She died a horrible death because of one of her many, many scams - she tried to hoodwink some very bad men and they chopped her up into pieces and buried the pieces on a Texas ranch. Complicated monkeys are complicated.
