Comment by Mandy on February 7, 2012 at 9:19am A genuinely free country which worships god sounds like an oxymoron to me. Such a shame that those children are being taught that America isn't a place of religious or non-religious freedom.
Comment by Unseen on February 7, 2012 at 10:23am Gingrich just thinks this is a tactic which might get him the Republican nomination. No more, no less. His past demonstrates that he is practical in the most cutthroat way. He's about as religious as my left testicle.
Comment by Chris James on February 7, 2012 at 10:56am @Unseen. Agreed. Newt is pandering to the religious right. What better way to raise campaign money? Moderates aren't known for sinking life savings into political campaigns, but extremists of all types are. If you believe that the world will end and everyone in America will go to hell if we don't make Christianity the official religion of the U.S. and this keeps you up it night then sinking all your savings in with Newt seems like a good investment. Televangelists operate on the same system.
Comment by Dylan Martin on February 7, 2012 at 12:07pm To quote George Carlin: "...by the time the future arrives they won't be kids anymore, so BLOW ME!!!"
Comment by Tex on February 7, 2012 at 5:51pm Is it just me, or does anyone else feel sick after hearing this guy speak?
His becoming president is frightening prospect.
Comment by Rob Klaers on February 8, 2012 at 1:29am There's no clear front-runner. Speaking of which as of tonight Santorum just got Missouri, Minnesota, and Colorado for the GOP Caucus in those states.
Frankly, regardless who finally gets the GOP nod at the Convention I don't feel any of the Repubs have a chance.
Comment by Maria Anna Rivers on February 8, 2012 at 3:28am I really wish the US would adopt a different voting system, like proportional representation. That way even smaller parties would have an input and every vote would count, unlike now where you are pretty much screwed if you vote for democrats but live in an overwhelmingly conservative state. I know there is no perfect system, and sometimes it is hard to come to decisions quickly with so much input from very different people, but at least the extremists would be kept in check a bit. All these clowns scare the shit out of me. And when I look at his "competition," I must say, Obama all the way, please!
