I want to punch her dumb face so hard.
I think I would have approached it from the other perspective, rather than suggesting that theists should act like Atheists -- simply observe that they already DO act like Atheists for the most part. Something like:
"Well, it seems very much like religious people only pray as a coping or comforting mechanism because they don't seem to act like they expect that the prayer will actually protect them, they still board up windows, store extra food, water, and batteries -- so they must know something about the effectiveness of prayer because they are acting just like an Atheist would. The difference is the Atheists don't profess a belief in something and then act differently.
And when they don't act that way and try to pray their children well instead of taking them to the doctor tragedy often results and we find them guilty of child neglect and abuse.
And Atheists simply take comfort in our love and compassion for our fellow human beings and the beauty and wonder of Nature. There are large numbers of atheists who used to pray when they were religious but no longer feel that need and wonder why they used to."
Or something along those lines.
We get up off of our knee's and we do something about it.
What are they doing but mocking Mr. Silverman for what he knows to be the truth. Christians don't want to be mocked for their opinions (read lies), but will mock others if you believe differently.
That was awful. I couldn't bear to finish watching it. You know what I did when Hurricane Irene was coming (and I live in what could have been a direct path)? I made reasonable preparations and then went to an amusement park with my son, It was fantastic! It was empty because a hurricane was coming!
What the hell?? these people are tarded as they come. god didnt create the hurricane? Oh lemme guess, da devil created huricanes and tornadoes and earthquakes and shit of that nature. And what the hell is the point of preparing for the storm if they think that praying is gonna help see them through? Shit like this is what really grinds my gears.
Our last major family weather related crisis was in 2002.
We had a very heavy snow then ice fall that snowed us in for 3 weeks without power. We could not leave due to the number of trees down on our road. Our family, three adults, one dog, and three cats, living in our little livingroom next to the fire place.
I had done snow camping/survival a few times, so I had some ideas for adaptation. We ran out of fire wood, mostly, by day 17, and started cutting up fallen tree limbs and scrap lumber in our shop. It was rather nice in a few ways. A very warm living room, a warm cat in your lap, lots of books to read, the random chess game, and keeping the fire going with snow melt water for coffee and tea. We started using up all our frozen food to keep itr from wasting. I remember the best chicken and dumplings I ever made, on the top of our wood stove.
We did not lose our pipes, since the well pump died early on.
We started hearing chain saws come up our road as the snow and ice melted. Civilization, damn..LOL
"Is this really what you believe?"
"You're mocking so many people!"
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!
Arrrrg, talking to these people is like a sailor spitting into the wind!
How does 'God' create a hurricane, create life, kill life whole sale, make humans embarrased to be naked, flood a whole planet because of a few thousand poorly trained humans, then expect that thoughs humans would find love in their hearts for him? I guess that about sums it up for me ....
