Well I guess I'm gonna be single for a while. Ya know, until I get sent to hell? XD

And there goes my last shred of respect for Steve Harvey.

@UsuallyScarlett - He's in a position of extreme influence and his words, whether he says them as a comedian or not are taken seriously. In this case, he is not doing a stand up routine so I would say even more so.

not one ofthe world's greatests minds at work here. In fairness to him, by saying not to date an atheist he has made us all damn sexy. as long as he convinces enough parents to fret about their daughters dating atheists we're up there with rock stars and bikers

@Dallas Gaytheist - yep, exactly what i wasn't going to mention either

What a bigot!

And seriously, "no moral barometer?"  That "argument" again?

So, religious people supposedly have a moral compass and yet they have committed such heinous acts throughout history?  What does that say about the moral compass bestowed by religion?

There was always something about this guy that just seemed a bit "off" to me. Now I know what it was.

Here's the thing that should alarm you about this statement (and Harvey's follow-up statement, that atheists are idiots - both made in '09, by the way): Steve Harvey has an enormous following. I worked at a Barnes & Noble when his book on relationship advice aimed at women came out. We literally could not keep these books on the shelf: They were bestsellers for weeks.

This, despite the fact that Steve Harvey has been married three times. Who the hell wants relationship advice from someone like that?!

A LOT of people, apparently. So not only does this man have a big following, but they can't be all that bright.

And where exactly was Steve's incredible moral barometer when he was cheating on his wives? Well, I asked him (@IAmSteveHarvey) that on twitter, but have yet to hear back.

I didn't say I was surprised.

My mother always taught me to not date bigots. Actually, I think her exact words were, "Stay away from people like Steve Harvey."
