I'm obviously glad to see a religious nutjob sent packing.

Traffic safety issue not withstanding, what about the legal aspect of erecting a cross (human jockey or not) on public land, even temporarily? Is a median strip considered to be a "public forum" where anyone can erect a religious shrine, or does allowing that to happen count as an unconstitutional endorsement of the Christian religion?

I don't know, but a similar legal test is underway right now.

A Humanist group is suing to have a cross removed from a median strip in Bladensburg, Maryland. The last sentence in the linked Humanist article suggests that the apologists for the Christian cross are probably mounting the increasingly popular legal defense that religion isn't a religion because it's history and thus totally secular. See? No violation of the constitution here, your honor.

All that aside, the public safety issue I found most disturbing in that video is at 2:17. If that news anchor ever stumbled and fell, that hair-helmet spike is going to skewer somebody.

What I find interesting is that these are the very same people who will complain about the humanist association putting up billboards voicing an opinion (which is peaceful). And they come along and do this? What concerns me is the poor young kinds sitting in the back seat of their parents cars seeing this. Very disturbing in my view

Ei-yi-yi. What next, they put on a display of the birth of Jesus in an intersection?
