A creationist Senator in Louisiana wants to know how E. Coli. turn into humans during a debate over whether to repeal Louisiana's creationism law.
Fuck my life that is depressing.
He's probably a Chair of a Science and/or Education Committee. TN is full of idiots like this.
"Why not teach ALL of the creation theories of all of the religions if one is going to deviate from science into fantasyland."
Because the kids would get stuck on details, and the teacher has only one life. If biology becomes only a platform for teaching mythology, surely we might need a one year survey class in cultural anthropology before the kids even begin there biology/science classes. When I had my last biology class, the teacher was scared of his shadow, for fear that he be taken to the cleaners by parents for even touching on the theory of evolution. Talking with him, after class, made it clear to me that he was walking a tight rope, and he wanted to retire with a full pension!
There are times when I feel that they have to be being intentionally thick headed, just to prove some obscure point, but I sure can't figure out what it might be...
I really expect that the senator was both a little thick headed and wanted to bait the panel. A more interesting question could have been, 'Senator can you show us how God might have created humans, and please spare no details, since you are such a believer in that power? As supporters of a science education program, we would like to make sure that your alternative is effective at offering some real understanding.' Of course at this point, the panel will be dismissed, so the senator can have time for prayer.
@James Simple. AbracaJesusdabra!
Yes, sorry, I keep wanting to understand things, then find that there are fools as gate keepers.
