@ hope, that is where you are wrong. Many of my friends, who are also at university mock/disagree with me when I tell them that evolution is pretty much a scientific fact!

 

Its all good though, there is a class called 'Contemporary Scientific Issues' and the Physics lecturer shows them that YEC is scientifically ridiculous and gets them to read books like 'The language of God' by Francis Collins. Only the Christians with the 'most faith' will still be a YEC!

My goodness all you have to do is read the first sentence of the bible to realize it's all totally hogwash.  

 

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the Earth."  

 

We know the Earth formed about 10 billion years after the Universe sprung into existence.  Maybe some day some of those children will actually read the bible ...

This is so bloody sad. The parents may be sincere, but that doesn't excuse their ignorance and the fact that none of these people have the slightest clue about and of the scientific theories that they are so easily dismissing. This is without a doubt, brainwashing. I can only hope that some of those kinds eventually learn to actually think critically and logically.

When Genesis is talking about 'creation' its not talking about a physical creation, but God giving purpose the universe, out of all the chaos...
