So, the Catholic Church started the scientific method? Were the ancient Greeks Catholic? I think it had it's start there. Refinement occurred during the renaissance in Europe, but if you weren't Catholic you weren't alive. Their statement makes it seems like the Church actively pursued the scientific method. BS!

We also cherry pick the parts we like, such as medicine, space exploration and technology, but we chastise the parts that we claim contradict the bible, such as having a healthy sex life with whomever we choose, condoms, abortion, stem-cell research and genetic engineering and finally we begrudgingly give in to the parts we can't argue with anymore, such as evolution. We are the Catholic Church, struggling to keep up with progress, but at least we're not Islam."
