Religion and church are a big part of black people's lives.  Religion alone provides comfort and hope to believers and the black race has so much crap to deal with so it provides a sort of safe haven away from it all.  Obama said it himself when talking about the church he went to and how that is one of the places where blacks can vent over all of the injustices.

Which is very true we as an african american and a free thinker should question everything because there really is no definite answer to everything. Scientist always say nothing is 100 percent true or false so we as a race (human race) should always look for a definite answer even if there isn't one. Religion is taught to african americans at a very young age. Hell I remeber going to church at the tender age of four and thinking this is bullshit and that's at four. I'm going on 30 now and my feelings towards religion haven't changed a bit

Is the "one", Neil deGrasse Tyson? That guy is awesome, but maybe he's doesn't fall under famous atheist as much as famous cosmologist. Heck, is he even said he's atheist? I don't think so, but its hard to think of him as anything else with the way he debates it. If I had to associate one person of my race with my belief I would want it to Neil.
