Dear Folks: Now that you mention it, the one come back seems to be similar to 'Stupid is as stupid does'. Forest Gump! But Gump seems to make more sense as the movie progresses, making me wonder if stupid is different from insanity. Gump seems to indicate a growing sanity with his obvious stupidity, but the people around him, show their stupidity as group think and twisted traditions.

I liked the part where people were being asked to define stupid lol. It does make you think. I think the most stupid thing people do is playing with fire while knowing there is a chance they could get burned.

To me, stupidity is not the same as low intelligence.  I consider stupidity to be the quality of not using the intellect that you DO have available.  I've known many mentally retarded people who are very diligent in their work and mindful of the feelings of those around them while most people of average intelligence seem to ignore their responsibilities and the feelings of those around them.  A wasted mind is a terrible thing.
