Where Keith explains where he is at in regarding deism. Or is it athesim?
I don’t think you should see it a “flip-flopping” or changing your mind. It is not about “Certainty”. Anyone who claims to have all the answers and know the Truth with absolute certainty is not being honest. What is important is that we understand the reasons we hold the beliefs (or lack of them) that we do. They should reflect our current understanding of how we perceive reality. If those beliefs are arrived at through our own critical thinking and honest inquiry rather than spoon-fed to us, then we are on the right path. It is a journey and if we keep trying to learn and to challenge our current position we will remain open and honest with ourselves. We will never and can never know enough. That is the human condition. To hell with certainty.
Reg, thanks for your response. I can totally understand where you are coming from regarding not knowing all the answers. I guess for me, I have better reasons to be an agnostic atheist, rather than a deist. And yes understanding our philosophies and how we view the world, is very much a journey.
