The bias is in the name: CBN = Christian Broadcasting Network.

There are a number of extraneous digs at atheists in the reporting. I don't mind Christians taking shots here and there, but the sloppy journalism... well, I guess it's about par for the course with all networks now that I think on it. That's depressing.

I agree that it's atheists under attack much more so than Christians. Prejudice and discrimination against atheists is one of the few acceptable forms left in this country. When we were discussing religion in my sociology class a few weeks ago a student was talking to me after class and asked if I had heard that "they" are trying to take the "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance. She was surprised when I told her that the phrase "under God" was not a part of the original pledge and that "they" (Christian conservatives in this country) injected it into the pledge at a time when this country was in a state of paranoia about communism and atheism (remember McCarthy???). Students are also suprised to learn that "In God We Trust" was not our original national motto and did not originally appear on currency. They tend to attribute all of that to "our Founding Fathers." What has happened to education today? Arghhhhh.

Organizers in my city tried to rename the annual "Christmas" parade the "Holiday" parade to make it more inclusive and there was such a public uproar about "them" trying to take Christ out of the holiday...blah, blah, blah, that they changed the name back almost immediately. So much for love, peace, inclusion, and tolerance.
