The rise of aggressive secularism and radical Islam has left many Christians feeling under attack and unable to express their faith. Do Christians really face abuse and discrimination? Or are they just struggling to adjust to multi-faith Britain?

The lady at the beginning. What is she up to that people are saying "fucking Christians"? Her implication that people are seeking out her religion comes across as absurd. It's more likely that she's passing judgement using doctrine over good sense. Her implication seems to be that we are just walking around asking what a person's religion is and then berating them? What about the therapist? Would he counsel people to not spare the rod on the child? Would he counsel people to give away all of their wealth? Divorced people to not marry? Non-virgins to not marry? People of different cultures can't be counselled because they shouldn't be together in the first place? He choses one last island to stand on and feels justified? Sir, don't look now, but you are drowning.

Please Gaytor, let's not be reasonable. You'll spoil everything.

My problem with religious people saying they are persecuted is that they expect people to have *respect* for their religion. That is entirely different than persecution for one's religion. They mention marginalization, which is NOT persecution. If we set aside that someone is talking about a religion and judge the things they say.  When a person says idiotic blather they deserve someone telling them they are idiots. Just because it is a religion, or a religious viewpoint doesn't mean people should respect it. Just because you think your religion is the bases for all the "good' laws that we have doesn't make it so.

Interesting that the therapist said he will not counsel gay couples, because of his religious belief. Does he also disagree to counsel unmarried people? I doubt it. As sex before marriage is a sin as well he doesn't even have that to stand on. Don't discriminate and then say you are being discriminated against. Same thing with Muslims if you want to defend a religion that in it's religious texts says to "kill Christians and Jews", marginalizes woman in culture, and incites violence to any who disagree fine, but you are an idiot. You deserve no respect from secular humanists and cannot say you are being persecuted or your religion is persecuted it is given equal measure. The fact that their beliefs aren't worth the papyrus they were written on, seems to pass them by, because those beliefs are part of a religion.

That being said there is real persecution taking place in several countries. There are evil people killing Christians and Muslims, those people are mostly Christians and Muslims.  Also, I am not  encouraging anyone to rail on people with, um, silly beliefs. I believe that civility should be given to all people. with longsuffering. Civility and respect differ

I like the last guy "Islam cannot survive in a secular society, therefore the Muslim is more discriminated against". "The Muslim can only obey the law of Allah, and no other law" Talk about set up for failure!

Typical "you are persecuting us by preventing us from bullying you and resenting our bullying you" thinking by religious a**holes.

alot of "persecution" today is self inflicted like the sex therapist he choose not to counsel same sex couples and lost his job.....and is whining because of it....and in my observations theists will scream persecution if you just disagree with their ideas............disagreeing, being sarcastic about ones views, or even making fun of someone isnt persecution.....driving a ppl out, raping them, beating them, killing them, burning down their homes, etc etc is.

Is it just me or does Gary, the homophobic counselor, look like a transgendered female?  Nothing wrong with that, but if he is, holy hypocrite batchrist.

Haven't we all heard enough of the "voice" of Christianity, Islam, and every other religion that posits a creator god?  They are ALL based on beliefs without evidence.  Shouldn't these be called out for what they are, especially when the horrible beliefs they perpetuate lead to viewing others as unsaved, infidels, etc., who are worthy of death, hell, etc. simply because we do not believe what they believe?

Again, science helps us get to the moon, but religion motivates us to fly into buildings.
