Are Atheists too aggressive? David Gelernter, Professor of Computer Science at Yale University, certainly seems to think so.

I am so ashamed to believe that a professor could be so fucking ignorant and bias.

What a bunch of nonsense this Gelemter chap spouts. I guess as he is a Professor of Computer Science, he has never had time to learn about what paganism really is, or how religion has been used to manipulate human thinking and to deny freedoms over many hundreds of years. His own specious argument a case in point.

Nice work 'NotInMyName'.

Martin, me too.  But these biased prof's are everywhere...I had a professor for non-majors biology who staunchly opposed climate change.  He was the only one in the department of this opinion and they couldn't get rid of him.  When I think of all the liberal arts majors he influenced, it makes me cringe.  I went to a good college.  Hehe, I also had an economics prof chew me out for daring to question the mortgage system several months before the housing bubble burst...special interests aren't just in belt-way politics.

Kairan: true, they are everywhere and I have experienced a few myself - professors are excused to be a bit crazy and irrational BUT when speaking in a public forum like Big Think one better THINK before one speaks!

I am a computer science graduate myself and I really hate to see a professor of computer science represent my profession in such a careless and ignorant way.

I really hope that someone at Yale reviews this video.

NotInMyName: btw, nice work with the video ;)

Why do people think that University professors have any more competence as his / her students outside of their field ?   That's like expecting a priest, preacher, rabbi, imam to know what / how an Atheist thinks.

David Gelernter is a brainwashed christian...who also happens to be a professor of computer science at yale... ho hum. *yawn*   Great Video by the way!!!

Atheists aren't agressive enough!  and by agressive I don't mean preaching on the streets... I mean just speaking up in public places and not letting the religious dribble go by without a word.

Enough is enough. We have had religious people far too long spout their nonsense; we simply speak for reason, rationality, and logic. We ask people to decide for themselves and always ask for evidence. We don't threaten to kill people. I don't think so one bit; I admire the likes of Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins for consistently taking on the dangers of religious establishment and speaking for reason and rationality.

From a guy who challenges both opinions...yes and angry.  To comment souly on the first gentlemans response Mr. Sassan reasonable rational is making a monkey out of yourself an answer to the ignorance of religion?  When if you state a believe in evolution yet by your definition of events you suggest it ends?  Being evolution is continual, if you have aps and have mankind at the same time with no evidence of transition on going you are stating evolution has stopped!
