Polygamy used to be practiced by about 1 in 20 Americans, and groups such as the Fundamentalist Mormons have continued the practice long before gay marriage was legalized in any state. He got it backwards, obviously polygamy leads to gay marriage.

I don't know about that mr. Gibbs. Polygamy seems a rather sad business. I think it would lead to excessive ice consumption, preventing gay marriage from acquiring critical momentum. You have to have a mechanism that makes people choose to be gay and I think the most obvious candidate is line dancing. I think line dancing would lead to gay marriage and inappropriate behavior with moccasins.

Love the way he starts saying "Not just that we are .." then attempts to correct to "Not that we are homophobic". A Freudian slip, perchance? Anyway, have to go to lunch now with my partner, the lawn tractor.
