Video of Michele Bachmann trying to get her photo op in with my 8 year old son. It's hard to hear but he leans in and tells her that his mom is gay and she d...
Make sure you turn on the close caption to see what he says. It's clear mom put him up to this which I don't approve of. Having said that, Michelle Bachmann's reaction says it all.
Robert, I don't really approve of him being put up to that either, BUT considering how often Republicans shamelessly use children for their own political ends, I think it's nice to see someone giving them a taste of it right back!
I don't think it's nice to see anyone of any political camp using children for their political ends. It's exploitation, and that poor child doesn't really understand the bigger picture of what his parent was trying to do, or what Bachmann's anti-gay views really mean. It's despicable, and disappointing. If it was something the child wanted to do of his own volition, that's one thing, but I highly doubt that a child that young would come up with that on his own.
Cristynfaye - that entirely depends on how honest and open his mother has been with him. If she has explained to him about people like Bachmann who hate homosexuals, then I have very LITTLE doubt that he would want to stick up for his mother against someone like that.
I liked her reaction at 0:34 then she puts on a smile.
I think it was probably a joint effort by both mom and son. Sometimes kids need a little coaching and reassurance from an adult to do something that they really want to do especially if they have a tendency to be quiet and shy.
HAHAHAHA I'm glad this little boy's mom put him up to this. Just the look on Michele's face alone is priceless lol
I hold much more respect for the girl who asked Hitchens about books to read than this. The kid is not only being shamelessly coaxed, repeating something scripted, we don't even know what he personally believes... I hold doubts about if he even knows.
Granted at times children need to be coached and given motivation, seeing as children tend to act fearful of those with the air of authority. When mom says "don't you have something you want to say" it seems more like she's given the kid a thing to say then making sure he says it. Mom's presence is not support but opposition, the hard place on the other side of the rock. That's how it appears to me, and I could be very wrong. But "you can brainwash kids, well check this out... We can do it too" Is not a good message to be sending.
That said, I agree with the sentiment, I disagree with the execution.
Meh, this video didn't do much for me. Too quick and her reaction didn't really show any sort of bigotry , she just stood up and kind of forced a surprised smile. Plus I am under the impression that the mother coerced her child to do this, rather than walking up and speaking to Michelle as the gay woman that she is.
Rod, thanks for getting those screenshots. I'm still not buying it though. This kid is far too young to even know who Michele Bachmann is, much less her policy ideas. The kid was surely coerced into doing this, and I think using children as pawns like this is reprehensible no matter the message.
